Taramani will be as quirky as its teasers: Director Ram

...says director Ram in a chat about his romantic drama, which is set against the backdrop of the city's IT hub.

It is typical of long-delayed films to lose the anticipation among the fans and sometimes, by the time they release, they might even become irrelevant to the current trend. However, Ram’s Taramani, which has been in the making for years, has still managed to keep the fans intrigued and hyped about it. In a chat with us, Ram opens up about the premise and the cast of the film.

“I haven’t done a film on the relationship between a male and female. Even in Kattradhu Tamil, the love was only shown from the perspective of the guy. So, I thought of making a film which gives importance to the female character. There is no hero in this movie, both Andrea’s and the debutant Vasanth Ravi’s characters are equally important,” he shares.

When we ask what Anjali brings to the table, he says, “I would like to keep it as suspense of sorts. She comes as a girl from a middle class family. Her role will depict how the struggles of life can change a person entirely.”

The film deals about a love story at the backdrop of steep modernisation and cultural change, Ram says, adding, “The change is inevitable and I look at it positively. You can’t deny or differ from the change, and you have to live with it. Every decade, our society goes through a lot of changes and the shift that has happened in Tamil Nadu is a progressive one, and has created space for women’s freedom.”

Ram reveals that the quirkiness seen in the teaser will be found throughout the film as well — “We made the teaser like that because the whole film also has the same quirky shade.”
