PC Sreeram accuses former SICA heads

The ace cinematographer, Kannan and Ramnath Shetty have filed a complaint on former SICA heads for money mismanagement.

Looks like after Nadigar Sangam, it is the turn of SICA in the Tamil film industry. Ace cinematographer P.C. Sreeram, who was elected as the President of South Indian Cinematographers Association (SICA) in the elections held in January this year, met the city police commissioner to lodge a complaint against the former honchos of the union, namely NK Viswanathan, ex-president, G. Shiva, ex-general secretary and KS Selvaraj , ex-treasurer, for misappropriation and cheating to the tune of several lakhs of rupees.

In a complaint against the former heads of SICA, signed by PC Sreeram, Kannan and Ramnath Shetty, the current office bearers of SICA, it stated that, ‘Proper accounts from 2008 to 2014 have not been submitted. The union accounts have not been audited for the last few years.”

It added, “They had conducted a star night and award function in Malaysia, on behalf of the Cinematographers’ Union in 2015, for which, they have no proper accounts for the money spent or received. Hence, we are unable to get back TDS money amounting to Rs 37.5 lakhs from Sun TV, who took the telecast rights at that time.”

It is also reported that Shiva has misappropriated the union’s funds while buying a property in Saligramam, by over quoting the price, thus bringing in loss and disrepute to the association. It also alleged that for the past eight years, the former heads have not paid income tax properly and so, SICA is not in a position to avail 80G exemption and get donations.
