Allu Arjun's Kollywood debut

The Telugu star, who calls Chennai his first home' is as excited as can be.

The wait is over! Tollywood hottie Allu Arjun’s cherished dream to act in a Tamil film has finally come true. Yes, the dancing sensation was in the city on Thursday for the announcement of his Tamil- Telugu bilingual at a function organised by Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green. The Race Gurram star, who was undoubtedly excited about his Tamil launch in this Lingusamy project, began with a ‘Vanakkam’ in chaste Tamil! (and spoke for the rest of the meet only in Tamil)

“I have decided to speak in Tamil even if it is incorrect at times,” he smiled. “Chennai is my first home as I was born and brought up here — I am emotionally attached to the city. I have been living in Hyderabad for 15 years now and have worked in 18 Telugu films, with very few of them dubbed in Tamil. However, to act and be a star in Kollywood is giving me an all-new high,” he remarked.

“I have waited almost 10 years for a good script in Tamil!” he added, continuing, “Though I have heard several narrations from many filmmakers, it was Lingusamy’s script that suited both Tamil and Telugu, and fascinated me. I thought this would be the right launchpad for me here.”

Reacting to Gnanavel Raja’s earlier reference to his first production venture, Karthi’s Paruthiveeran, the Forbes India’s Top 50 entrant said, “Paruthiveeran is a magical film and a classic. I don’t want my film to be compared with the former. I am grateful that I am doing a beautiful project in Tamil and that’s enough.” “The untitled film will go on floors from Feb 2017 and the cast and technicians are to be finalised soon,” confirmed Lingusamy. Though he was not forthcoming about the genre, a source revealed that it is an action-romance with high commerical value.
