Aamir Khan’s film PK is what inspired me to make Genius,” reveals award-winning filmmaker Suseendhran. Talking about the premise of the film, he says, “It talks about the ill-effects of pressurising children to excel academically and it highlights how parental pressure puts kids under stress and eventually leads to failure and breakdown. Though it has a social message, the film isn’t preachy, I have made it entertaining.”
“Initially, I just had a one-line idea in mind. There was no story or script. After working on it for many years, I finally came up with a script. I discussed it with biggies like Vijay, Allu Arjun and Jayam Ravi, and they all loved it, but they couldn’t take the project up for various reasons. That’s when I decided to make the film with new faces and brought Roshan on board as the lead actor,” he said.
Apart from Roshan, the cast features Priya Lol, Monica, Naren, Jayaprakash, Singampuli, Meera Krishnan, Erode Mahesh and Singamuthu. Meanwhile, Suseendhran also has two other films, Angelina and Champion, in the pipeline.
