Though Anjali and Jai have been rumored to be dating for a long time, the Angadi Theru actress, once again, denies any such thing and maintained that they are good friends, while speaking to the media when she was in the city to promote her upcoming film Balloon. The actress is teaming up with Jai for Balloon after they did Engeyum Eppodhum — their first movie together five years back. Having completed a decade in the industry, Anjali speaks to us in a casual chat.
“Though a horror film, Balloon has everything from comedy to romance to emotions etc. Jai will be seen in a dual dimensional role and he is a balloon seller in one of them. Hence this title, I guess (smiles). People still talk about our earlier flick Engeyum Eppodhum. This one is totally different,” she starts her conversation. Ask her who is the actual ghost in the film — “That’s the suspense!” she says. Janani Iyer is also a part of the movie. Was she apprehensive at any point of time if her screen space would be more? “Oh never! I know my role in the movie and my director Sinish was very clear on that, right from the beginning. So, there was no hassle.”
The moment we talk about her closeness with Jai, Anjali was in no mood to extend the topic. “We are good friends,” she states. The actress reveals that she has been shuttling between Hyderabad and Chennai for her film shoots and that she has no time to think about marriage. “I am doing films like Peranbu with Mammootty, Kanbathu Poi (a female centric action thriller), Vijay Antony’s Kali in Tamil and a few including one with Nandi Award winner Karri Balaji in Tollywood. So, it has been hectic. I completed 10 years in film industry and am happy that I am still received well in Tamil as well as Telugu.”
The bubbly actress says that it is her dream to win a national award — “I have bagged a few awards including the state award in Andhra. But my aim is to get a national award for which I have been working hard and choosing scripts, which would give me scope.” We hear that you were asked to lose weight for Balloon? “I am hitting gym regularly and I’m on a weight loss spree. I have shed closer to five kilos now.”
