Sai Pallavi to star opposite Madhavan

The Premam actress will reprise Parvathy's role in the Tamil remake of Charlie.

Sai Pallavi, who missed out being launched by ace filmmaker, Mani Ratnam is now all set to debut in K’town, with the remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Charlie. Romancing her is none other than Madhavan, who has made a strong comeback in Tamil with Irudhi Suttru. And directing the romantic drama is Vijay, whose prowess for handling such a genre is well known.

Speaking to DC, Shruti Nallappa, the co-producer of the untitled film says, “Though we have acquired the remake rights of Charlie, it is not a verbatim remake in Tamil. Vijay has made many changes and has improvised it to suit Tamil nativity, retaining the essence of the original. We have experimented by changing the script. So, it is more like an adaptation of Charlie.”

On choosing Madhavan, she opines, “It was a collective decision by Vijay and I. He is very apt for the lead role and would add his own charisma to the character. His versatile image will go a long way in determining the course of the film.”
Reacting to a query on Maddy’s image makeover, she says, “Vijay has to take a call on that.”

Sai Pallavi, on her role, quips, “I am excited to share screen space with Madhavan sir and look forward for the shoot to begin.” In an earlier interview to this newspaper, Maddy, who is choosy about his flicks, had said that he had watched Charlie and liked it. “I went onboard only after watching the film,” he had said. Set in Ooty and Puducherry, the movie has Vijay’s lucky mascot Nirav Shah behind the camera and Leon James composing the music.
