Hindi divides Tamil politicos: Kamal Haasan

Actor-politician and career politician trade insults on the language row.

Subramanian Swamy and Kamal have been taking pot shots at each other in the last couple of years since Ulaganayagan announced his decision to enter politics. Once again, their war of words ignited the social media on the language row.

The actor-turned-politician Kamal had things to say about the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent proposal of ‘one nation, one language’ policy. Kamal said, “Do not make an inclusive India an exclusive one.”

In a video released by his party Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal had voiced his opposition to the imposition of Hindi in the country, especially in Tamil Nadu. After watching this video, the BJP MP Swamy slammed Kamal in a tweet, calling him a ‘Moron’.

Swamy posted, “Moron Kamalahasan and DMK Chief Stalin are howling about imposition of Hindi. What about their imposition that no Hindi will be taught in TN? Let Hindi be an optional third language and the choice on which language to opt left to the student.”

When queried about this, Kamal replied in his own inimitable style in a sarcastic tone and that went viral. Kamsl said, “‘More on’ Subramanya Swamy later. Let me clarify. I will say ‘More on’ Subramanya Swamy later. No ‘more on’ Subramanya Swamy in this interview, we will continue with the language issue that Tamils are facing” he said.
