Nethaji Prabhu's Owdatham is medical thriller

The writing of the screenplay and the direction has been done by Ramani.

Medical thrillers are a rarity in Tamil cinema, which is what makes debutant producer Nethaji Prabhu’s upcoming film Owdatham (Medicine) special. The film is based on his personal experience with a diabetes-specialist found to be involved in criminal activities and the unlawful prescription of medicines. Apart from bankrolling the film, Prabhu has also penned the story, and he plays the lead role, with Sameera playing his love interest. The writing of the screenplay and the direction has been done by Ramani.

Speaking to DC, Nethaji says, “I work as an IT guy in a corporate company, but my passion for cinema has brought me here. This film talks about the greed of men who manufacture medicines that can affect you adversely and then bring them to market with the help of corrupt politicians and officials. I have done my research on the subject, and you won’t believe it, but medicines considered unfit for consumption are still being manufactured, and no one has any control over the process.” Music for the film has been composed by the award-winning composer Tashi.
