Sada's film gets A' certificate

Movie on sexual exploitation of women gets A' rating in tribunal.

Actress Sada’s female-centric film Torch Light, which deals with the plight of sex workers who solicit customers on the highway, was denied certification by the Regional Censor Board (RCB) because of its explicit content.

Director Majid, who has worked with the likes of Vijay in the past, says, “I had no choice but to approach the tribunal board in Mumbai, and they have awarded the film an ‘A’ certificate with a few cuts and mutes.”

The filmmaker says that Torch Light will create awareness among the masses and expose the pitiful circumstances of poor girls who are sexually exploited and used as commodities.

“It is a period film set in the ’90s. I’ve done extensive research on the subject and I’ve reached out to several people from rural areas who were formerly in this trade. Several heroines turned down the film, but Sada who was ready for a challenging role.”

The film also features Riythvika of Madras fame, who’s currently a contestant on the second season of Bigg Boss.
