Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru all set to be remade

The film is doing wonders at the box-office.

The 21-year-old director Karthick Naren stepped into the industry with a riveting thriller, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru. The film is doing wonders at the box-office and is still going strong despite the release of Vijay’s Bairavaa which occupied a majority of the screens. Dhuruvangal… starring Rahman was hailed by critics and audiences for its gripping screenplay. Now, the film is all set to be remade in several languages.

Speaking to DC, Karthick says, “I am so happy to see the response for my debut film. Talks are going on with three leading production houses in Telugu and the agreement will be finalised by the end of January. However, I won’t be directing the Telugu version as I don’t think it is the right time to remake my own film. Also, two leading production houses from Bollywood have also initiated talks for the Hindi remake.”

When prodded about a possible Malayalam remake, Karthick explains, “Malayalam actors heaped praises on my film. However, I don’t think it will be made in Malayalam as the original had Malayalam actor Rahman playing the lead. There is a possibility for the film to be dubbed.”

Meanwhile, Karthick Naren is gearing up for his next directorial venture with a big production house. “Currently, the casting process is underway and we are looking at actors who are relatively new to Tamil audiences. This project will commence in July or August,” he concludes.
