Vijay Antony in a powerful cameo

The actor would be essaying himself in SA Chandrasheker-starrer Traffic Ramasamy.

Music composer Vijay Antony has already carved a niche for himself as a successful hero in Tamil as well as in Telugu. Though he is busy with handful of flicks, the big news is that he has been roped in to play himself — an actor — in the upcoming film Traffic Ramasamy, a biopic, which chronicles the life of public interest litigator and social activist Traffic Ramasamy from Chennai. Directed by Vijay Vikram, a product of prestigious Pune Film Institute, the movie has ace filmmaker SA Chandrashekar reprising on-screen Traffic Ramasamy. Actress Rohini will be seen portraying Ramasamy’s wife.

Confirming the news to DC, debutant Vijay Vikram, who has also had his tutelage under SAC for five years, says, “It is not an usual character in the film. I needed an actor for the particular extended cameo, as the message he conveys is important and impactful. That’s when Vijay Antony sir, who is a rising star came to my mind. His films always have a societal significance. Moreover, I know him personally and he has been involved in many social deeds without making much noise. So, when I approached him for the special appearance, he was glad to come on board.”

Explaining the role of the India Pakistan actor, Vikram said, “He would appear at a crucial segment and raise his voice for a particular cause. Perhaps, his portions may come for about 10 minutes in the film. But they are power-packed.”
Given the situation that well-made films with socio-political themes like the recent Aramm occupy the centre-stage, we ask him how important his film would be. “Everyone is aware of Traffic Ramasamy’s tireless activism and I have given a realistic approach with my screenplay without making any compromises in the script,” Vikram asserts, while signing off!
