Produced by Rajan and Sathya Murthi, Thappu Thanda has A. Vinod Bharathi’s cinematography, Naren Balakumar’s music, and SP Raja Sethupathi as the editor.

Srikantan, who is very passionate about short films, has directed short films Acceptance and Colors in the past. “I was glad to join Balu Mahendra’s film institute. His words gave me confidence and courage to make my first feature film. Most of the people have think that he is only a creator of realistic films.

However, he is also the maker of all-time feel-good films like Rettai Vaal Kuruvi and Sathi Leelavathy. I am trying to follow his feel-good patterns. My efforts are in this direction, and with the best of efforts we have roped in a decent list of artists, that will give a great viability to the film,” says Srikantan.

Recalling his association with the late legend, Srikantan reminisces, “His last words to me were ‘think of me before you switch on the camera’, which I follow till date and will continue to do. I am sure I will not let his name down,” says Srikantan.

Indeed, the legacy of the eternal legend Balu Mahendra is alive through his disciples, directors Bala, Seenu Ramasamy, Ram, and Vetrimaaran.
