Jyothika's stylish avatar in her next

Jyothika essays the role of a modern documentary filmmaker in her next outing, Magalir Mattum for which the actress has undergone training.

Jyothika, who made a stunning comeback to K’town, after nine long years with 36 Vayadhinile, is all geared up with her next, Magalir Mattum, the title of which has now been officially revealed.

The film is being produced by hubby, actor Suriya under his home banner, 2D Entertainment, along with Chris Pictures.

Directed by national award-winner, Bramma of Kuttram Kadithal fame, Jyothika essays the role of a documentary filmmaker in the movie. The first look of the actress holding a high-tech camera reveals a bit of the character she plays.
Contrary to her role as a simple saree-clad, middle-class woman, who chases her dreams in 36 Vayadhinile, we will get to see the Mozhi star in a modern avatar this time around!

Close sources say that the bubbly actress has undergone training through a workshop in order to get the exact feel of the role she plays. Yesteryear heroines Bhanupriya and Urvashi, as well as Saranya Ponvannan will be seen in crucial roles. Nasser, Livingston and Paval have been cast as supporting characters too, in the project.

One may recall that the original Magalir Mattum (Jo’s flick is not a remake) was produced by ace Kamal Haasan, through his Raaj Kamal Films International banner in 1994 — and interestingly, it also had an all-woman cast including Revathy, Rohini and Urvasi in the lead roles.

Apparently, Suriya had approached Kamal Haasan for the title and Ulaganayagan was graciously willing to part with it for his co-star in Vettayaadu Vilayaadu.

Though Jyothika is tight-lipped about husband Suriya’s cameo in Magalir Mattum (similar to Kamal’s appearance in his MM), our sources indicate that the director is still contemplating the inclusion of the Singam star in the flick. Ghibran has been roped in for the music.
