Shruti Haasan stalker hunted by cyber cell

Doctor allegedly tweeted abusive messages.

Chennai: Cyber crime wing officials of the City Police are pursuing a petition of actor Shruti Haasan complaining of a stalker over Twitter. The petition was filed by her agent with the Police.

Sources said the actor’s agent, identified as Praveen Antony, submitted her complaint at the grievances redressal meet at the City Police Commissioner's office on Wednesday. In her two-page complaint, Shruti sought action against her stalker who was sending abusive and derogatory messages over Twitter on the handle @Shrutihaasan.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior police official admitted that the petition had been received and forwarded to the central crime branch sleuths for further action. “We cannot register a case right away. We have started probing her case and would take adequate measures based on the merits of her complaint”, the official reasoned.

The petition which DC accessed contained allegations that the stalker was using expletives and highly derogatory terms to abuse her and, in some of the messages, he threatened to kill her as well. The episodes of harassment have been recurring since September 7. The accused had openly stated that he would stab the actress if he managed to get near her. The stalker had made wild accusations about the actor’s character besides making jibes on her personal life.

Based on the details provided by Shruti, the suspect was identified as one Dr K.G Guruprasad, a doctor working with a medical institute in Karnataka. Corroborating her claims, the actor attached her Twitter screen shots of the messages she had been receiving from the respondent.
