In Tamil cinema, a ghost horror comedy is usually associated with a haunted bungalow, a scary doll, a pei (ghost) frightening you at night and white being the preferred colour for portraying them. However, newcomer director Deepak Narayanan, well-known in the ad film circuit and who has assisted many top Malayalam filmmakers, claims that his new movie Pei Ellam Paavam steers clears of all these clichés.
Arasu plays the lead with Kerala girl Dona Shankar debuting as the female lead. National award winner Appu Kutty has been roped in for comedy. “PEP is a ghost comedy thriller and my aim is to make audiences laugh throughout. Of course, the story happens inside a house and not in a dilapidated one. The movie is shot on the Kerala - Tamil Nadu border area.”
