Bala warns Bharathiraja!

Bala said he was deeply hurt and was forced to go public about the issue and wanted to bring out the facts.

The tussle between filmmaker Bala and veteran director-actor Bharathiraja, touched a new high when the former gave a stern warning to the latter and his writer Rathnakumar, about the screen adaptation of Kuttra Parambarai. Speaking at a hurriedly arranged press conference, Bala said he was deeply hurt and was forced to go public about the issue and wanted to bring out the facts.

He told us, “Kuttra Parambarai is based on real-life incidents and anyone can make a film on historical occurrences. If a person insists that only he has the right to film happenings like The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, it is quite childish.”
Bala also stated that he made it clear to Bharathiraja during a phone call earlier, that he was not filming Kuttra Parambarai. “He asked me if I was planning to make a movie on the same. I informed him that my story was based on Vela Ramamoorthy’s novel Koottanchoru. He also asked me not keep Kuttra Parambarai as the title, for which I said ‘okay’. My story has few portions from the same period set in a different mileu, with my own fictional creative episodes,” Bala explained.

Lashing out on Rathnakumar for his unpleasant statement during an interview, Bala said, “Bharathiraja doesn’t even pick up my calls and it’s high time that I reacted. If he speaks something offensive the next time, it won’t be easy for him. Also, I’ve assisted only Balu Mahendra whom I have kept in high esteem till today. I haven’t asked anybody a job.” As we reported earlier, this film of Bala’s will have Vishal, Arya, Atharvaa, Arvind Swami, Rana Daggubati and Anushka Shetty in pivotal roles.
