Veteran playback singer S.Janaki who has given memorable songs for the last six decades retired from singing recently. However, the team of Pannadi and the music composer Rajesh Ramalingam managed to get the 80-year-old Janaki Amma to croon an emotional number for their film.
Set against a rural backdrop, the film is directed by Pazhanivelan and features RV Udhayakumar and Vela Ramamoorthy in crucial roles. For a particular song Un Usiru Kaathila Kaathadiya Parakiren, we needed only Janaki Amma’s voice. Though initially she turned down the offers as she has stopped singing for a while, we were very persistent and finally she agreed. And she made me sing the male portions in the song after she was impressed with my voice in the track which I gave her,” explained Rajesh Ramalingam.
