Maha is a special film to me, says Hansika Motwani

Hansika reveals that Malayalam is tough to learn and work with.

Hansika, who is touching the 50-film mark with the suspense thriller Maha, says that in the present scenario an artiste’s responsibility does not end just completing a film, but he/she has to go all out and turn up as a salesman/woman to promote the film.

Talking about Maha, she says, “I have not done a full-fledged female centric movie so far. All my other films were colourful, vibrant and different. Maha is special to me. It is a suspense thriller with my character being strong and intricate. I am excited and a little scared.”

She adds, “When debutant director Jameel narrated the script of Maha, I asked him if he had come to the right actress. He said, ‘If I want to do this script, I want to only cast you in the lead and I don’t want to do my debut film with any other person.’ Also, normally, I don’t prepare for any of my roles. But for Maha, I am discussing a lot with the director in the preproduction stage.” On Thuppaki Munai with Vikram Prabhu, the Aranmanai star states, “It is a crime thriller and shaped up very well. Looking forward to it.

“Both success and failures do not affect her, she asserts. “Is there any actor who has not seen both sides? If I see only good, what will I understand about the bad? I take them as it comes. For that matter, I am a stable person. And I have come to a stage when I can choose the kind of films I want to do. Initially, I was doing eight films a year. Now, I take my own time and it has come down to four substantial movies in a year. “

Hansika reveals that Malayalam is tough to learn and work with. “After my debut film Villain in Malayalam, I got lot of offers from M’town. Somehow, my heart and soul is in the Tamil industry and I am concentrating more here (smiles).”

Sh ascribes dropping a few kilos of weight to squash. “I don’t diet, but I workout. I play squash and it is one of the reasons for my weight reduction.”
