Chennai: The family court in Chennai has granted a decree of divorce to superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya and her industrialist-husband Ashwin Ramkumar on Tuesday. They lived separately for over a year.
They appeared before a family court in the city on June 23 in connection hearing on their divorce case filed in September last year.
After elders failed to solve differences between them, they filed the petition for divorce by mutual consent petition. Graphic designer, film producer and director Soundarya earlier informed that she and her husband approached the court due to irreconcilable differences
During the proceedings Soundarya, younger daughter of Rajinikanth, signed affidavits affirming the decision in person before the principal family court on December 23 last year. The couple appeared before the court on June 23 and signed the required documents. Subsequently, the judge had adjourned the matter to July 4 for passing orders.
When the matter was taken up for hearing on Tuesday, the judge, principal family court, AD Maria Clete has passed the decree of divorce and said the petition allowed.
They were married in 2010 and blessed with a child.The couple had been living separately since February last year.
Soundarya, founder and chief executive of Ocher Picture Prod-uctions, directed Kochadaiiyaan, country’s first motion capture film, her father in the lead role and is directing Vellaiyilla Pattadari-2.
