Sri Ganesh, former assistant of Mysskin and a finalist of Naalaya Iyakkunar season three, is all excited to make his debut as a director in Kollywood with 8 Thottakkal. Speaking to DC, Ganesh said, “This intense crime thriller, set in Chennai is based on eight to nine characters, who are linked by a crime scene. The film also focuses on how a crime affects the mentality of a middle-class family.”
He further stated that his film will have situational comedy. Newcomer Vetri and Aparna Balamurali of Maheshinte Prathikaram fame play the lead roles, while Nasser, MS Bhaskar, Mime Gopi, and producer T Siva will be seen as significant supporting characters. This film is produced by Vetrivel Saravana Cinemas in association with Big Print Pictures, and will start rolling from August 17.
Calling Mysskin, Anurag Kashyap and Vishal Bharadwaj as his inspirations, Ganesh added that their influence will be seen in his film. “I am yet to meet my mentor Mysskin. Since the movie was announced a couple of days back, I couldn’t meet him and get blessings,” said the director.
Ganesh, who is well-known in the short film circle, has big plans to make his mark. He believes that conveying emotions with the right content will stand strong in the minds of the people — “More than stylish filmmaking, it is the content that is important to me.” Some of Sri Ganesh’s famous short films are Parisu and Oru Koppai Theneer.
