I trust Venkat Prabhu implicitly: Vaibhav

Despite making his debut with a Telugu film Godava, he has a huge fan following in K'town now!

The hits he has in his kitty are a testament to his success. From Saroja, Goa and Mankatha to the recently released Sundar C film Hello Naan Pei Pesuren, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that it is testing time for Vaibhav who has steadily been growing from acting in multi-starrers to playing leads. Despite making his debut with a Telugu film Godava, he has a huge fan following in K’town now!

Laughs Vaibhav, “That’s actually because I was brought up here and I have always wanted to act in more Tamil films.” He says he doesn’t want to limit himself as an actor by doing select roles. “In fact, Kappal was a different kind of experience for me. People have told me that I can fit into any role, especially that of a friend. For instance, only after Goa, I realised that I could do comedy quite well. Likewise, I want to try every genre,” he adds.

The Damaal Dumeel actor also has one more reason to smile — he’s already a part of Venkat Prabhu’s Chennai 28 sequel! Vaibhav responds with a chuckle, “I am the only addition in the cast. I guess Venkat has tried retaining everyone who was in the original. We are going to shoot from April 10, but Venkat Prabhu hasn’t told us yet about the story because he knows if he tells us, we’ll accidentally leak it to the outside world.”

About his association with Venkat Prabhu, Vaibhav says, “I trust him implicitly. He knows how to extract work from me and pushes me to give my best. Working with him has always been fun. It’s like hanging out with good friends.”
We asked him, “What’s next”? The actor is also a big fan of actor Vijay and hopes he can do a film with him one day. “I want to act under AR Murugadoss sir’s direction or Shankar sir’s,” he concludes.
