There's a new villain on the block

The koothu-p-pattari trained actor speaks about his experiences.

Sivasakthi who has acted as a baddie in films like Udhayanidhi’s Saravanan Irukka Bayamen and is a known face in Malayalam (Signal) and Telugu (Yuganiki Okka Premikudu) seems to be a happy man these days. He has bagged a meaty role in the movie Nungambakkam. Directed by Ramesh Selvan, the film is based on the true life incident in the murder of a techie in broad daylight at a suburban railway station in the city.

The koothu-p-pattari trained actor speaks about his experiences. “My grandfather was a theatre artiste. It was but natural that I was lured by cinema. I trained myself well with all aspects before venturing in to acting. I learnt filmy fights from Pandian master, attended dance classes and took acting classes in koothu-p-pattarai,” Siva tells us.

The actor who essays the key role of a crude cop in Nungambakkamsays, “It is an open secret that Nungambakkamis inspired from real life murder of a girl by a stalker. There was a particular part reported in the real case where the accused in the murder case slit his throat when the police surrounded him. But the father of the accused alleged that police had apparently cut his son’s throat. I play the role of the police officer who had reportedly slit the murderer’s throat. The director told me that many well-known actors refused to act in the particular bold character and he finally zeroed in on me.”

He adds, “The movie will be a turning point in my career. My martial arts background was very helpful while doing action sequences in the film. I am ready to do any types of roles if they offer scope for me ” Sivaskathi has movies like Torchlight with Sada, Pizhai and Saalaikudi in his kitty.
