Jackie Chan to visit Chennai?

Prabhu Deva hints that Chan might grace Devi(L)'s trailer launch.

Aascar Ravichandran pulled a coup of sorts by bringing international star Jackie Chan to the city for the audio launch of his production venture Dasavatharam.

This time around too, Chan — who respects friendship a lot — has obliged to do something special for yet another Indian film personality.

Yes, the martial arts exponent recently unveiled the first look poster of Prabhu Deva’s multilingual horror film titled 2 in 1 in Hindi, Devi(L) in Tamil and Abhinetri in Telugu. Featuring Tamannaah as the leading lady, it is Sonu Sood (who essays one of the leads), who was instrumental in roping Chan for the launch of the poster. The film directed by Vijay also marks Prabhu Deva’s return as an actor after a very long hiatus.

When DC contacted Prabhu Deva, the choreographer-turned-filmmaker, who has also taken the onus of producing the movies under his Prabhu Deva Studios, said, “All the credit goes to Sonu Sood. In fact, he has floated his new production company Shakti Sagar Productions in memory of his dad and bought the Hindi rights of 2 in 1 from me. It is well-known that he shares a great rapport with global icon Jackie Chan ever since he shared screen space with the latter in the action-comedy Kung Fu Yoga. So, he brought Chan to unveil the first look of the film.” Chennai audiences also might have something else to look forward to from Chan.

Prabhu also reveals that Sonu is making all efforts to bring the Armour of God star for the grand trailer launch function planned at a later date. We ask whether Tamannah plays an actress in a dual role. “I am only the lead actor in Devi(l). You should ask director Vijay about it. But yes, there’s a nice twist to her character,” she quips. So, can we get to see Prabhu in a double role too? “Oh no! The movie is based on real life incidents and I am portraying a single character named Krishna. It is about a husband and wife. The former always dreams of getting a modern girl as his wife but eventually ends up with a pucca rural belle. The movie imparts the message that beauty is skin deep. Vijay’s screenplay is extraordinary and I would say that it’s one of the best screenplays I have ever worked on,” he signs off in style.
