Udhay going to court!

The actor has been locked in a constant wrangle with the Censor Board for sometime now.

Udhayanidhi Stalin is peeved at the developments with respect to his recently released movie Manithan, a remake of Jolly LLB. The producer-turned-actor’s movie has been denied tax exemption from the government, despite it being awarded a clean ‘U’ Certification from the Censor Board.

Speaking to DC, Udhay says, “ I am happy the movie has been received well and am getting positive reviews for my performance. I anticipated this tax denial as I have been denied entertainment tax exemptions for all my previous movies! The reasons cited by tax committee members for denial are also flimsy. The first thing they said was that ‘Manithan’ is not a Tamil word and it is a Sanskrit word. They also stated that the courtroom scenes look degrading among others. I am filing a case against the government on Monday.”

Udhay tasted success when he won the case against the government at High Court last time when Gethu faced a similar issue. But his happiness was short-lived, as the government got a stay order on his appeal! Now Udhay has gone to the Supreme Court — what’s next in this saga?
