May the force be SOLO!

The much awaited Star Wars spinoff Solo: A Star Wars Story is slated for release on May 25.

May the Force be with us on May 25, as the much-awaited Star Wars spinoff Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in theatres. An expectant Star Wars fandom awaits its release with bated breath. With the trailer and news snippets about the cast being released, fans are at the brink of their patience to watch the Ron Howard directed film.

Once a Star Wars fan, always a Star Wars fan!
“As someone who has been with Star Wars since childhood, I can’t wait to see this comeback. The first two movies from the new trilogy have been a fun ride so far, and I expect great things from spinoffs such as Solo. Han Solo is a great character — hilarious, fun and adventurous. I really hope Alden Ehrenreich manages to pull off the role of Solo!” says Hafsa Shabeer, a PG student at KIMS Hospital.

Sci-fi Khaleesi!
“I am curious about Emilia Clarke’s role in the movie because for me, she will always be the Khaleesi from Game of Thrones. It will be refreshing to see her essay a character in a Star Wars film. I also want to know how Han procured the Millennium Falcon and developed his relationship with Chewie so I am really looking forward to watching it,” says Nirmal Abraham Raju, a student of animation at iPixio Design College. He feels the movie is like a tribute to Han Solo’s character.

A whole new dimension
“With any Star Wars movie, there are always a great deal of expectations and hype because of how successful each and every movie has been. Rogue One was an insightful spin-off which was also very well directed, so I expect this movie to deliver similar results,” feels Sushruth Vakkaleri, a student of medicine from MS Ramaiah. He feels that the spinoff will add a new dimension to the character of Solo, and also to how one perceives the rest of the movies.

Mixed feelings
Not everyone is open to the fact that Han Solo will be played by someone other than Harrison Ford. The man who brought the character to life is in no way a part of the movie that portrays his early years.

“I have mixed feelings about this movie. On one hand, fans have always loved Han Solo as he is one of the best characters in the franchise so it would be nice to know his origins. But I cannot see anyone else play the role of Han Solo because Harrison Ford was responsible for immortalising the character,” opines Remus Noronha, a BA student at Christ University. This movie will give us an insight into the world of Han Solo where, in the words of Solo himself, “It’s true. The force, the Jedi, all of it, it’s true!”
