After releasing Chained to the Rhythm and Bon Appetit, Katy Perry dropped the third song from her new album Witness. Titled Swish Swish, the song also features rapper Nicki Minaj. Immediately, rumours that the song is a diss track against Katy’s foe Taylor Swift started doing the rounds. People even started making assumptions that “swish, swish” could stand for “Swift, Swift.”

Swift’s girl pal Ruby Rose took the Bad Blood singer’s side and wrote on Twitter, “‘Purposeful poop’ to ‘bomb a petit’ to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda... stop trying to make ‘Wit.. I mean ‘fetch’ happen (sic).” According to JustJared.com, Katy had earlier described her new music as “purposeful pop”.

Referring to Katy’s contribution during Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, the Orange Is the New Black actress added, “I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low is a bummer.”
