Star Wars hard for Carrie Fisher's family to watch

Reports say that Fisher's dog recognised her on screen at the screening of Star Wars: The Last Jedi

TMZ.com reports that Carrie Fisher’s final Star Wars scenes hit too close to home for her family, who had to fight their tears while watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Carrie’s brother, Todd Fisher, says that he struggled watching General Leia in one particular scene, which was extremely traumatic for the character.

Apparently, the family had actually seen an early cut of the film while Carrie was still alive. They saw the scene in question back then, and say it wasn’t nearly as gut-wrenching.

The family enjoyed the tribute to Carrie at the end of the flick. Although it has already been announced that Carrie won’t be in Episode IX, the family hopes Leia will continue to live on in the Star Wars world in some spirit. They’re also not opposed to a CGI Leia. Interestingly, Fisher’s dog Gary attended a screening and every time she came on screen, his ears perked up.
