Sonakshi Sinha and Sidharth Malhotra roped in for Ittefaq remake

The film is being produced by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Abhay's brother Kapil.

Mumbai: Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions and BR studios have teamed up to remake yesteryear classic hit Ittefaq. The film which released in 1969 was directed by Yash Chopra and featured Rajesh Khanna, Nanda and Sujit Kumar in the lead roles.

The remake which will be helmed by Abhay Chopra will star Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha. The makers are yet to rope in the actor who will step into 'Inspector' Sujit's shoes.

The film revolves around an artist who is arrested for the murder of his wife whom he had thrown off in a moment of frustrated rage. However, in a shocking turn of events, he manages to break free from the hospital where he is being psychologically evaluated and breaks into the house of a rich woman. Later, he is accused for the murder of her husband.

According to reports, the three production houses have decided to give the story a new twist. And it will be interesting to see the story unfold on the big screen.

Meanwhile, Sidharth who was last seen in 'Kapoor and Sons' will be next seen in 'Baar Baar Dekho' and Sonakshi is gearing up for the release of 'Akira' and 'Force 2'.
