Pakistan did not ban Dhoni's biopic, the film was never sent for certification

News of Pakistan banning M S Dhoni's biopic is baseless, confirms Pakistan's Chairman of Censor Board.

Mumbai: ‘M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story’, a film based on the life of Indian One Day International (ODI) cricket Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has not been banned by Pakistan. The Spokesperson of Pakistan’s Censor Board of Films Censors (CBFC) was reported as saying that the film was never sent for certification in the first place.

Reports of Pakistan banning the Indian hero’s biopic has been doing the rounds after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) gave an ultimatum to all Pakistani actors to leave the country with immediate effect. CBFC, however, has reportedly dismissed this allegation, saying that the film cannot be banned since it wasn’t sent for certification in the first place.

Chairperson Mobashir Hasan added that they are working as per ‘normal rountine’ and no instructions of banning Indian films ‘has been communicated to them’. Hasan also clarified that CBFC works keeping in mind ‘Pakistan’s integrity, security and sovereignty’.

Another source from Sindh Board of Film Censors has alleged Indian media for ‘potraying it wrongly’. The source also points out the fact that they had certified recent movies like ‘Banjo’ and ‘Pink’ just last week.

However, Pakistani distribution company, IMGC Entertainment has reportedly decided against releasing the film in the wake of growing tension between both the nations.

‘Banjo’ and ‘Pink’ are currently playing in Pakistani theatres.
