Focus on your prayers, Jaya tells selfie-seeking priest at Esha Deol's Godh Bharai

Jaya Bachchan is not known to mince words. Outspoken to the core, she has lost her cool with the media more than once. When some excited photographers referred to her bahu as ‘Aishwarya’, the sharp-tongued Mrs B snapped back, “Is she your friend.”

At a high profile wedding in Hyderabad, when a young guest at the do requested her for a selfie, she said “No” very rudely.

Now it was the turn of a priest at Esha Deol’s god-bharai ceremony, who got carried away and started taking selfies with star guests.

Jaya reprimanded the priest, and said, “Please focus on your prayers.”

A family friend who happened to be present laughs and clarifies, “Jayaji didn’t snap at the priest. She just told him to concentrate on his work! People around laughed too. Jayaji is known to be extremely curt when she sees bad behaviour in public.

“She’d have probably given the priest a dressing-down if he had persisted with his star-struck behaviour. Luckily he saw sense in Jayaji’s advice and all went well thereafter.”

The family friend reveals that Jaya’s sharp tongue is a matter of embarrassment for the Bachchan family.

“Bachchan saab, Abhi and Aishwarya are very diplomatic. You will never find them losing their cool in public no matter what the provocation. Mrs Bachchan is different.”
