Confirmed! Badlapur sequel is under process, to have a female protagonist

Mumbai: ‘Badlapur’, which proved to be the turning point in lead actor Varun Dhawan’s acting career, will have a second instalment coming out soon. Producer Dinesh Vijan confirms that the script of the sequel is being worked on.

‘Badlapur’, released in 2015, went on to earn huge moolah at the BO and declared a hit. Since then, there has been news of making the sequel of the film.

Speaking exclusively to Deccan Chronicle, producer Dinesh Vijan said, “I am working on the sequel to Badlapur with director Sriram Raghavan. This is the film which I am really looking forward to start. Sriram is still in the writing process but this time there will be a female protagonist.”

Rumours are rife that Deepika Padukone is being considered for the part in 'Badlapur 2' but nothing has been finalised yet.

On a related note, producer-turned-director Dinesh Vijan's directorial debut 'Raabta' is set to release on June 9. Deepika, who shares a good relationship with Vijan, has done a special item number for this film.
