Watch: Kangana's vivacious act in Rangoon's Mere Piya Gaye England song

The song sees Kangana Ranaut performing to the soldiers in an elaborate set-up just like the song 'Bloody Hell.'

Mumbai: It is possible that the song ‘Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon’ from the 1949 film ‘Patang’ would have been heard by people of this generation. Incidentally, a song from a film set during that period and titled ‘Rangoon’, also has a similar title, only that Rangoon gets replaced with England here.

Veteran Gulzar is the one to be credited for this change, in the song’ Mere Piya Gaye England’ from the film. The veteran lyricist also smartly includes popular leaders like Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill in the lyrics.

In the film, Kangana is sent to Burma to entertain the soldiers fighting in the war and this song also sees her performing to the soldiers in an elaborate set-up. While the last song ‘Bloody Hell’ saw her enact the ‘Hunterwali’, this time she dresses and dances in the desi way.

Kangana is also seen hilariously trying to calm down a Burma local who points the gun at her, before the start of the song.

‘Mere Piya Gaye England’ is rendered by Rekha Bhardwaj and composed by her husband Vishal Bhardwaj, a combination which has worked wonders several times before.
