Watch me as a performer, not as star kid: Harshvardhan

Anil Kapoor's son, Harshvardhan is all set to make his debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mirzya.

Star son he may be, but Harshvardhan Kapoor has his shoulders firmly on his head. This, despite the fact that unlike his father, actor Anil Kapoor, who worked hard in the early days to make a decent living, the young actor has always led a luxurious life.

So does he take his father’s advice on which films to do? Harsh says, “I do not listen to him when it comes to choosing films, as I am not inclined towards his kind of films. Dad has had many hits, but always chose commercial films.” Further, he states, “I want to push the boundaries on my own and do different kinds of roles. I cannot do a film until I give it a hundred per cent.”

Harshvardhan talks fondly of his two sisters, Sonam and Rhea. “Sonam is a sweet sister and being elder to me, I respect her a lot. She has a very good heart and is frank. But, I am closer to Rhea,” he admits.

The youngster displays a rare maturity. “We should never allow success to get into our head nor lose confidence while tasting failures. You need to believe in your talent and do everything to the best of your ability,” he says.

However, there is a slight hint of insecurity while talking about his upcoming release, Mirzya, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. “You never know what will happen to Mirzya. Although it is emotional and well written, you don’t know if the audiences would want to watch a newcomer. I only want them to watch me as a performer and not as a star kid. I hope the film works,” he says, adding “I request the audiences to watch my film with an open mind. They need not consider me as Anil Kapoor’s son while watching me on the screen.”
