No plans to come up with fashion line anytime soon: Sonakshi Sinha
Before becoming a diva, Sonakshi was a star kid who started off her Bollywood journey as a costume designer, but now, as fate has it, she has turned a muse for many fashion designers. The actress, who recently walked the ramp for designer Monisha Jaisingh at the Lakme Fashion Week 2017, reveals her dream to come up with her own fashion line once she is done with acting.
Donning a sunset orange, one-shoulder gown with a flirty hemline at the show, she looked stunning as the show-stopper. But was she nervous? “I’ve been seeing all of this ever since I was in college so there’s no more nervousness. It’s sort of a homecoming, but it’s been a great journey from the backstage to the front stage,” Sonakshi says with a laugh.
Being a designer, her own fashion line might definitely be on her cards. When asked about it, Sonakshi reveals, “Ever since I started acting, I have put that thought on a back-burner, but I would like to do it later on in life when I am done with acting. That’s a field that demands a lot of attention, time and energy. So I will come up with my own fashion line when I am done with acting.”
What tips does she give to her designers in movies? “I always pick out something that suits me from their collection. I don’t interfere in their job, but rather give my inputs.”
On her Bollywood fashion icon picks, the actress says, “I really like Alia Bhatt’s laid-back chilled-out style. And also Rekha’s timeless style.”
Last year was a game changer for Bollywood, with films such as Akira and Neerja, and Sonakshi is very proud to be a part of that. “It shows that audiences are more accepting of a new kind of cinema; that is definitely worth applauding.”
Sonakshi is someone who is known to be quite outspoken. How does she react to the Bengaluru mol-estation case, where women were being blamed for wearing Western clothes?
“The mindset that it was the girl’s fault for wearing clothes of her choice needs to change. It’s the upbringing of the boys that needs to be the focus. Teach them how to treat a woman,” she says.
