Taapsee Pannu, who was recently seen in sleeper hit Saand Ki Aankh as Shooter Dadi, is signing on her fourth sports film — a biopic on cricketer Mithali Raj. We are told that a major studio has acquired the rights of the film, and Taapsee, who had expressed a desire to play the role of the Indian women’s cricket team captain, will now seriously need to learn to play cricket the right way. The Pink actress had earlier played a hockey player in Soorma and has signed on the role of a sprinter in Rashmi Rocket directed by Akarsh Khurana, writer of films like Krrish, Krrish 3 and Kites.
“She seems to be the right choice for sports films. There are many other actresses playing sportswomen in other films, but they are all having issues getting into athlete mode. Taapsee, who is athletic by nature, seems to be the unanimous choice for such films,” says a source. She has had a dream year so far with Badla and Mission Mangal hitting the bull’s-eye. She also owns a badminton team, and is in a relationship with Danish shuttler and Olympic silver-medallist Mathias Boe.
