Exclusive: We at Bollywood are not brave enough, says Phillauri's Suraj Sharma

Actor feels that the film industry is not brave.

Suraj Sharma, who received global recognition for his performance in Life of Pi, will now be seen in Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri. The actor, however, feels that Bollywood is not brave enough to experiment.

Explains Suraj, “One bad thing about Bollywood is that we are not brave enough. The good thing is that we have a great sense of colour; we have deep sense of emotions.

“But I think we continuously like to force ourselves into similar films, so that we just know we’re going to make money. However, that disallows the younger generation from having a voice. The movies aren’t representative of our art anymore, but it’s changing and evolving. If things are similar for a long time, that means they’re stagnating and we need to evolve.”

Suraj will be playing an NRI in Phillauri, who is made to marry a tree before his actual wedding. The twist in the tale is that a friendly ghost, Shashi, played by Anushka, lives on the tree.
