20 years of KKHH: Salman's entry inspired Varun, SRK's weird assumption for film

Team Kuch Kuch Hota Hai celebrated 20 years of their movie the grand way in a suburban hotel on Tuesday.

Team Kuch Kuch Hota Hai celebrated 20 years of their movie the grand way in a suburban hotel on Tuesday. There, Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan made some interesting revelations. In fact Salman Khan, who couldn’t be physically present at the event, also sent across a message through a video.

During a chat with Karan, Shah Rukh went down memory lane and said, "I normally, even till date and which might 75 years from now, ultimately, lead to my downfall...that I never listen to scripts. I listen to the heartbeats of the people that I work with. There are the younger actors or the millenials, who sit with me sometimes and say, 'Woh script aapne chod dhi, kya kamaal ki script thi.' I can say this with my heart, I have never understood a script."

"I've understood the script maker or the script filmmaker at the end of the whole many pages of dialogues. When Karan came and narrated the film to me, I was shooting for a film called Chaahat(1996), at night. Alia is not here, I wanted to tell her what a great company Pooja was. I would have rather been sitting with Pooja. Karan came and I told Tom uncle that, 'I want to make a film with Karan,'" SRK added.

In fact SRK went on to say that when he first read the script of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he thought it was trash.

Shah Rukh was also all praises for Hiroo Johar saying, "A few days before shooting Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Hiroo aunty's wise words were - 'Dekh lena, Karan camera koi achi jagah pe rakhe.' So that is what I kept looking at while I was shooting and that's why the film looks so beautiful."

Varun also spoke, “I was 11 years old when Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released. Ironically on the same day my dad’s film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan released. I remember asking him during the film ‘Paa, when are we seeing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. Abhishek was also there. Till date even dad knows that Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is my favourite. The film had a huge impact on me – not in terms of working Karan, even though I consider him my father figure – but megastar Salman Khan. I can never erase the memory of his introduction in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in the song Saajanji Ghar Aaye. I think I’ve never heard a louder roar in Gaiety Galaxy. I had goosebumps and that was the kind of stardom which I aspired for. It was the reason I wanted to be an actor as well.”

Salman revealed, "The thing with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is that Karan met my sister Alvira and said 'this is my first film. I have signed Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. It's a small role but an important one. And I am not finding a star for it.' My sister Alvira said that Karan is a very good guy and it's his first film for which you should help him out."

"I then met Karan at a party and I said that I will do it for my sister, for Yash uncle and Hiroo aunty, for Karan Johar and Shah Rukh, I did this film. And not only that, I really liked the script. I was pretty impressed with Karan's writing. Karan was very clear back then as well. He has made a very good film which is very different," the actor added.

Salman concluded with a sweet request to Karan and said, "I am glad I could be a part of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and please work with me again, Karan."
