Post divorce, Malaika Arora asks event organisers to remove 'Khan' from her name

Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora have officially got divorced and the latter no longer wants to use the Khan' surname.

Mumbai: Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan were granted divorce by principal marriage counsellor VS Athavale of the Family Court in Mumbai on May 11.

Their meeting with the principal counsellor lasted for five minutes, and then they officially got separated, leaving behind their eighteen years of marriage.

Since the couple has officially parted ways, Malaika Arora doesn’t want to carry the baggage of the ‘Khan’ surname with her name and wants to discontinue it.

As per reports in a leading tabloid, Malaika was recently invited as a chief guest for an event in Vadodara and the nameplate at her chair read ‘Malaika Arora Khan’.

Apparently, the actress wasn’t comfortable with this gesture and immediately asked the organisers to remove the ‘Khan’ from her name.

The organisers, however, made the desired changes.

Well, there’s nothing wrong in demanding her name being changed, since she has legally broken ties with her ex-husband Arbaaz Khan.

However, what irks is her social media handle, which still identifies her as Malaika Arora Khan.

Malaika has got the physical custody of their 14-year-old son, though Arbaaz has been granted the permission to have access to his son whenever he wants to.

A leading daily quoted a source saying that Malaika did not seek any alimony or property from Arbaaz.

They were last seen together at the Justin Bieber concert which was held a day before their divorce at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The couple had a love marriage in 1998 and filed for a divorce in November 2016 through mutual consent.

There were rumours that their families were looking for reconciliation, but it didn’t work. Despite the fluctuating relationship they shared, they always remain cordial with each other.
