Deepa Mehta has started filming her digital series for Netflix called Leila. We had told you earlier that Southern actor Sidharth, who has done films like Rang De Basanti and Striker, had been cast as the male lead role in the series.
Huma Qureshi was later on roped in to play the female, which has been described as a bold show of sorts.
As the team recently started shooting, Huma’s mother dropped in on the sets to see what they were up to. And the three women ended up having a ball.
Huma took to social media to tell the story. “As you can see...I’m clearly over-the-moon, working on my first series, with Netflix’s ‘Leila’ directed by none other than Deepa Mehta, Shankar Raman and Pawan Kumar! @netflix_in #DeepaMehta @shanksthekid @pawankumarfilms As you can see, so excited to be directed by the legend #DeepaMehta ... and mommie dearest dropped in on set to give us her duas and pyaar #Leila #postpackup #selfie. Guessing mom’s apprehensions about the shoot vanished the moment she saw her daughter being directed by a lady.
