Bachchans cancel Holi festivities owing to ill health of Aishwarya's father

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her dutiful husband Abhishek have set aside all their professional commitments to be by her ailing father’s side. Ash’s dad Krishnaraj Rai, who has been ill since 2008, was nursed back to health, but now, his health is sinking again. Following this, all Holi festivities at the Bachchans residence have been cancelled this year.

Aishwarya is hopeful that her fighter dad will recover. While he was recuperating, Ash had said, “My father is a strong man and so is my mother. They’re both going through his illness and recuperation together. My father is the strongest man I know; he is my source of inspiration. My dad’s faith in the power of healing is very strong. He is a fighter.”

This time, the struggle to get her father back on his feet is much harder. “Aishwarya and Abhishek are constantly at Krishnaraj’s bedside. We are all hoping for a miracle,” says a close family friend.

Incidentally, Priyanka Chopra, who lost her father to cancer, has shown a deep and genuine concern about Aishwarya’s father’s health ever since he fell ill, although the two actresses are not the best of friends.
