We love your music, Mika Singh, but we've had enough of your crassness

Mumbai: Mika Singh is controversy’s unabashed favourite child. He’s often been accused of molestation, FIRs have been filed aplenty, accusations have flown regularly, but Daler Mehndi’s infamous sibling could never care less.

One of the most successful singers in Bollywood, currently, Mika has gotten himself embroiled in a fresh controversy.

At a recent event held to launch a promo song of upcoming rom-com ‘Happy Bhag Jaayegi’, the singer belted out many a blatantly lecherous comment while referring to lead actress Diana Penty.

While the cast, comprising of Jimmy Shergill and Ali Fazal tried their best to put up a straight, indifferent face while the entire charade played out, Diana was visibly flustered.

Mika who’s sung the ‘Gabru Ready To Mingle Hai’ song from the movie, made abhorrent and unwarranted innuendos regarding the actress’ surname, evidently trying to pass it off as humour. Mika called himself 'Mika Kaccha' (underwear) while calling out to Diana Penty. He went on to call the actress beautiful and someone who every guy would want to be married to, never letting go of his sleazy undertone.

The singer even went on to suggest that he’d have exchanged his own studded ring with the ‘Cocktail’ actress had it not been as expensive as it was. The ‘Heer Toh Badi Sad Hai’ singer seemed to be holding the young actress unworthy of his materialistic possessions, or even worse, implying that women can be bought with them. Being nowhere close to putting a stop to his preposterous shenanigans, the singer even had the audacity to go down on his knees and kiss the heavily nonplussed actress in front of the crew and the press.

Mika did not limit his crass means to Diana, though. While talking about his co-singer, Neeti Mohan, Mika referenced to their last collaboration, a song from ‘Housefull 3’ christened ‘Taang Utthake’, suggestively saying ‘Abhi sab kucch utthake aayega’ (This time round, everything will rise up).

The singer had also infamously forced himself upon Rakhi Sawant and courted major controversy and recently been accused of molestation by a fashion designer.

He definitely seems to take his celebrity status as a license to keep his sordid personality intact. His stark irreverence and borderline sexist and misogynistic acts in front of and behind the camera have irked most with equal magnanimity. Maybe, it’s high-time the talented singer sticks to crooning and keeps himself off people or makes an earnest effort in mending his ways, because the number of his patronisers is dwindling by the minute.
