Laal Rang fame director Syed Ahmad Afzal and music director collaborate again

Mumbai: Syed Ahmad Afzal, who directed films like Youngistaan, Laal Rang and Baaraat Company, has recently presented his first iPhone film YOU And I featuring Tara Alisha Berry that won several awards across global film festivals.

He recently join hands with 'Brothers of String' which is a newly formed Indo-French music band by renowned musicians that includes popular singer/composer Mathias Duplessy from France, Sabir Khan, a Sarangi player who is son of the great Sarangi player Ustad Sultan Khan and Dilshad Khan, son of the great Sitar player Ustad Nasir Khan. Dilshad has played the Sarangi for more than 500 Bollywood movies.

Mathias Duplessy is a renowned French Musician & artiste. Apart from being a world music artiste he has also given music in major Bollywood films like Laal Rang, Finding Fanny, Peepli Live etc. Sabir and Dilshad are first cousins, belonging to the famous Sikar Gharana of music which has given several stalwarts to Indian classical music. The two are from the ninth generation in the Gharana to take up Sarangi. Their great grandfather Ustad Azim Khan was a court musician at Sikar in Rajasthan.

Afzal and his team shot the first music video of 'Brothers of String' on the very beautiful and less crowded Aksa Beach, Mumbai. Interestingly, the entire music has been shot on iPhone and in around one and half hours. The music video shot on iPhone has now become viral on social media platforms especially in Europe.
