Box-office: Varun has a stellar 2017; after Badrinath, Judwaa 2 hits 100 cr

The David Dhawan directorial, withstood tough competition from Saif Ali Khan's Friday release, 'Chef'.

Mumbai: Varun Dhawan is unstoppable at the box-office and every passing film has been ample testimony to the young actor's impeccable hold on the cash registers.

With his immense acting chops and irresistible charm, the actor has been a force to reckon with. And if his recent box-office string is anything to go by, the actor has definitely entered the big league.

After delivering a big hit in 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' early this year, Varun has now bettered it with dad David Dhawan's 'Judwaa 2,' which has entered the 100-cr club by its second weekend itself!

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film, which grossed approximately rupees 4.25 crores on Friday, taking its domestic tally to 102.33 crore rupees approx.

This was despite tough competition from Saif Ali Khan's 'Chef' and Hollywood biggie 'Blade Runner 2049'.

The film had managed to pull in phenomenal numbers through the weekend, with collections second only to Salman Khan's 'Tubelight' (63 cr approx.) and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Raees' (59 cr approx.).

Reportedly, this has also made Varun hike his fees to a monumental 25 crore rupees per film.

It remains to be seen if the film is able to sustain the momentum and end up being the biggest hit of Bollywood this year, beating Akshay Kumar's 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'.
