Why would I care about Varun and Alia's careers, quizzes Sidharth

The actor has often been quizzed about his competition with the two, who had debuted alongside him.

Mumbai: When Karan Johar launched three rank new-comers in his directorial ‘Student of the Year,’ no one would have imagined they would go on to have extremely successful Bollywood careers in the years to come.

While Varun Dhawan has gone on to win the hearts of everyone, having not delivered a single flop yet, Alia Bhatt, though got exposed to a fair share of box-office failure, has established herself as a competent actress.

Sidharth Malhotra, on the other hand, has shown a willingness to experiment and push his own boundaries, but ended up receiving immense flak, often being accused of being wooden.

The actor, who was last seen in Nitya Mehra’s ‘Baar Baar Dekho,’ co-starring Katrina Kaif, which unfortunately turned out to be a box-office disaster, is gearing up for the release of Raj and DK’s ‘A Gentleman’.

The actor has revealed that he has started viewing his career from a different perspective and with renewed vigour.

When quizzed on the perceived competition with his co-stars from his debut, the actor chose to brush it down.

"Competition, in this industry, has a different connotation. Here, there will always be people who have worked before you. You have to make peace with the fact that there will even be better performers coming in after you. In order to maintain your sanity, you can only compete with your last performance. That’s all that matters. Why would I care about Varun and Alia’s careers? I have too much on my plate to worry about anyway,” he said.

With Alia and Sidharth rumoured to be together and the gossip mills being heavy on talks of Varun and Sid being not the best of pals, we don’t know if this comment has any underlying interpretation yet to be deciphered to it.

‘A Gentleman,’ also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Suniel Shetty, is slated for an August 25 release.
