The ace filmmaker revealed that it will be Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor who will be playing the main leads in the sequel to the romcom that made homosexuality a dinner table conversation.

With Kartik and Janhvi coming on board, the film has got fresh young energy in abundance. Currently, the makers are scouting for ‘a suitable boy’ — preferably a newcomer who they will launch with Dostana 2. Reacting to the whole development, Janhvi opened up about the film for the first time exclusively with Pinkvilla. She told us, “I’m just really excited to be a part of this film! Not just because of what it’s trying to say but also because the story is just so much fun. I’m happy we’re talking about this subject more and more in cinema and normalising it.” While many actors - both male and female - might have their own reservations about the film and playing a gay character, Janhvi is one of those few who will soon become one of the faces behind a pioneering movement. Karan had earlier said, “I am excited to take the franchise forward with Kartik and Janhvi! This is our first film at Dharma with Kartik and we are very excited to work with him.
