Mumbai: Actor John Abraham has signed his football jersey and donated it for an auction to support People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s non-profit group that provides working animals with relief.

Abraham, 43, who is the owner of football team North East United FC, said he was pleased the jersey will be used for an important cause.

The proceeds will go to the group Animal Rahat, PETA India’s US affiliate. The auction is live on eBay.com.

“The bulls, donkeys, horses and other animals who pull heavy loads day in and day out are in desperate need of care. I couldn’t be more pleased that this jersey will go to support Animal Rahat’s tireless efforts to help these animals,” Abraham said in a statement.

Animal Rahat was founded in 2003 to give relief to horses, bullocks, donkeys and other animals, who are forced to work.
