Sonakshi Sinha-Diana Penty teams up for Happy Bhag Jayegi sequel
Mumbai: The makers of 2016’s sleeper hit Happy Bhag Jayegi have approached actress Sonakshi Sinha to play parallel lead in the sequel of the movie. The originals movie starred Diana Penty as Happy alongside Abhay Deol, Jimmy Shergill and Ali Fazal among others.
Earlier Sonakshi’s management team said, “Discussions are in progress. When something concrete happens, it will be announced. Must say Happy 1 was hilarious.” During these times, Sonakshi had more or less confirmed the film.
Well, the film is now officially underway with Sonakshi and Diana in the lead. Other cast members are expected to be announced soon.
Elated Sonakshi said in the statement, "I'm thrilled to be on board of this really positive, vibrant and most importantly happy film unit. I loved the first part and I hope this one is bigger and better in every way. Can't wait to start shooting!"

The film will go on floors soon in Punjab.
"'HBJ was a special film for me, so being part of HBJ Returns is like going back to family! HBJ was a fun, roller- coaster of a ride and I'm sure this one is going to be as much of a riot! I'm looking forward to the shoot," Diana said.
Titled Happy Bhaag Jayegi Returns, the film will also star Punjabi singer and actor, Jassi Gill.
“Happy Bhag Jayegi' was a cross-border comedy of errors featuring humorous characters and now we are happy to announce the sequel that has Diana passing on the happy-ness quotient to Sonakshi. Excited to have her on board," Rai said.
