Mumbai: Reports had been floating around that CBFC had extended its merciless arms onto Anupam Sharma’s Brett Lee and Tannishtha Chatterjee starrer, ‘UnIndian’.
But, apparently, the rumours were baseless since the CBFC only insisted on a minor edit. Producer-director Anupam Chopra who voluntarily had offered to edit out the lovemaking scene in question, was only asked to edit out a scene that has the ex-Australian cricketer’s derriere by the notorious Censor Board.
CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani, who’d come in for unanimous flak on multiple occasions in recent times, maintained that the Board had only insisted on a trim-down and not a blanket edit on the scene. The scene in question has the protagonists (Brett Lee and Tannishtha Chatterjee) making love against the backdrop of a Guru chanting mantras and that it was entirely Anupam Sharma’s decision to do away with it.
The sequence now only suggests lovemaking without actually showing the act itself. Pahlaj has always been of the opinion that the aesthetics of such scenes lie in brevity.
