Zaira Wasim criticised for her decision

Zaira decided to quit the industry citing religious reasons.

The actress who shot to fame with her debut film Dangal completed five years in the industry on Sunday, but instead of celebrating her success, Zaira decided to quit the industry citing religious reasons.

But the actress didn’t get a quiet goodbye she was hoping for. Instead received a lot of flak as her decision didn’t sit well with a lot of people. Actress Raveena Tandon took to twitter and wrote, “Doesn’t matter if two film olds are ungrateful to the industry that have given them all. Just wish they’d exit gracefully and keep their regressive views to themselves.”

Although a few people respected her decision, many called it regressive. Twitter user Taslima Nasreen twitter, “People are saying actress Zaira Wasim's CHOICE to quit acting for religion shld be respected. Really? Women are brainwashed by misogynistic patriarchal society to be submissive, dependent, illiterate, slaves, sex objects, childbearing machines.Women hv no freedom or option to choose.”

Another Twitterati Imtiyaz Hussain wrote, “Respect choice of Zaira Wasim quitting acting in movies but she can’t invoke religion and faith to justify this. Are others in the field some kind of sinners? This dawning of new reality should be her own truth & her own interpretation of religion. Period.”

The actress wrapped up shooting for her upcoming film, The Sky is Pink before bidding adieu.
