Shashank Khaitan’s Rannbhoomi with Varun Dhawan is set to go on the floors at the soonest after the actor wraps his shoot of Coolie No. 1 and the promotion of his film Street Dancer 3D. The project was announced a while ago, but it was officially announced over a year later.
Varun and Shashank had a sitting at Varun’s office on Friday to discuss the project. “Varun had a few doubts regarding the screenplay and the scenic order of the film, and wanted a few clarifications. A certain non-linear narrative of the film had put doubts in his mind, and he made sure that he clarified that with the director. Karan Johar, who has not had a very good year this year with films like Student of the Year 2 and Kalank falling by the wayside, is bankrolling the film. Kesari did well and Good Newwz eponymously may bring in good tidings for the maker and he hopes that Rannbhoomi will do well even as Johar himself works on Takht,” says a source.
Shashank Khaitan made his debut as a director with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and went on to direct Badrinath Ki Dulhania with Varun and Alia Bhatt again. His third film, however, was Dhadak with Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, which did not do as well as his second film with the Varun-Alia jodi.
